HUAN IS A

Jacksonville, FL-based lo-fi loner, producing silky-smooth bedroom pop with a dash of hooky introspection for those sticky-hot, sleepless nights.

The brainchild of Jacksonville, FL-based lo-fi loner, Juan Mallorca, (who is also behind the 90s-styled, garage-rock outfit, Jawberry, and latin-trap project, Chico Honey), HUAN hits like the cool side of the pillow with tracks sung in both English and Spanish.

Translated as “grateful” in English, ‘Agradecido’ is a silky-smooth, acoustic guitar driven Latin pop ode to his Ecuadorian-immigrant parents' struggle, sacrifice, and dedication, as they strived to give Juan the best life possible in the US. For those who like Omar Apollo, Gorillaz, boy pablo, or Beck, ‘Agradecido’ is a bridge between the two worlds Juan grew up in.

From Juan, “This song is my Mothers Day gift. My friend sent a guitar loop they recorded and asked if I had any ideas on it. I've always wanted to write a song for my mom, and this chord progression just resonated with me. This was my first time writing in Spanish and even though Spanish was my first language, it was more of a challenge than I expected. But once I got it started the words just flowed and the song was done in 2 sessions. Proud of this one. Hope my mom likes it too.”

This is the first release since the San Juan EP, released in 2022, featuring standouts ‘Energy’ and ‘Not Today’, which followed 2021's singles ‘Neverland’, ‘Brainstorm’, and ‘Days’.
